Azilect, generic Rasagiline is categorized in the class of medication known as monoamine oxidase-B inhibitor. In Parkinson's disease neuro-transmitter called Dopamine is lacking in the body. The enzyme Monoamine oxidase is responsible for the degradation of this neurotransmitters. The MAO-B is accountable for breaking down the dopamine. The Generic Rasagiline acts by irreversibly binding to MAO-B and prohibits its actions thereby rising dopamine level in the brain.
Therapeutic Indication -
The Medication is prescribed for Parkinson and to stop it's symptoms such as spasm, tremors, stiffness and lack of muscle control. The Azilect therapy can be followed in combination with Levodopa.
Dosage information -
The initial starting of the medication is 1mg devoured once in a day following oral route. If you are prescribed this medication in arrangement with Levodopa then the starting dose should be 0.5 mg once in a day.
- In case you missed a dose - Take it as soon as you remember. Plus, if it is already time of next dose you may skip the dosage.
